What are Quantum Computers

Quantum computers are kind of computers which works entirely different from our traditional computers.Unlike traditional computers has silicon chip processor the Quantum computer works on quantum physics.This quantum computers are designed to perform certain tasks which our traditional computers lags at.It is even more powerful than the supercomputers at those tasks.Traditional computers will take almost 100s of years to perform such tasks whereas the Quantum computers can complete these tasks within minutes or even fraction of seconds.It performs multiple tasks at the same time whereas the traditional computer executes the task one by one.

What is a Qubit?

In traditional computers CPU are used for processing.These CPU chips are made up of millions of transistors which are used to stop or continue the flow of current.These transistors have bits 1 and 0.When the bit 1 one then it will allow the electrons to flow and when the bit is 0 then the electrons will not flow through the transistor.From the very beginning when the computers have been invented the size of these transistors have been getting smaller and smaller ranging from 40 nano meter earlier to today that is 7 nano meter.It is very difficult to decrease the size further because now it has come to an extent where the size of the transistor is almost equal to the size  an electron.Due to this it will be very difficult for the transistors to control the flow of electrons and the electrons can even pass through the transistors as per the law of Physics that is Quantum tunneling.This quantum behaviour is used in Quantum computer.Unlike like transistors Qubits are used in quantum computers.Quantum mechanics allow the qubits to be superposition of both states simultaneously.Unlike transistors it can be 1,0 or both at the same time.These values depends on polarization of photon vertically or horizontally and spinning of electrons up or down.Well to archive quantum state or create qubits there are certain that has to be followed.They must be kept very cold around absolute 0 degree celsius  temperature colder than outer space.Any disturbances in the environment or electro magnetic waves cause errors.

What are the uses of Quantum Computer?


Well everything from research to development for quantum computer is going for the it's amazing power and applications.Quantum computers are capable to simulate structures of complex molecules.Our digital computers are capable of simulating only simple molecules.Studying of structures of complex molecules will benefit the medical industry to invent powerful and effective medicines to fatal diseases. Another great application of quantum computers are analyzing stock markets.Investors and analysts can use this tool to build up their portfolio.Quantum computers can also be used for weather forecasting.Entire GDP depends on climate and weather changes.Changes in weather affects food industry,hotel industry,manufacturing,production and transportation.It can be used to predict more accurate weather conditions so that we will be aware of weather problems before they even occur.This will allow us to take preventive measures.Another great application of quantum computers are cryptography.Most of the password cracking depends on factorization. Traditional computer spends much time in finding these factors  but quantum computers can take very less time to find out these factors.It can even crack RSA encryption key,our modern day computer will take around 10000 years to crack it.So using this we can upgrade the encryption of our classical computer and make our system more secure.

Development and Reality of Quantum Computers today


Everything about Quantum computer are just experiments.None one actually knows that how to actually build a Quantum computer.There is not a proper study of quantum computers or any courses available for quantum computers.United States and China are pouring billions of dollars into quantum computing.Tech gaints like Google and IBM are also investing tremendous amount of money into Quantum Technology and research.Quantum computers are very promising but it will still take decades to build an actual working machine.
